The best way to prevent "project over board" is to plan the project yourself (quietly - so as not to recieve "help").

Then, when requesting assistance, provide a measured drawing detailing the project + an itemised materials list, to the Male from who this assistance is needed, along with a couple of cases of beer.

Trust me, I'm a Male!......Just remove us from the planning process, and you can have it your way.

It may be too late in this case however, beter luck on your "next" project.

Orlando Eric:
HEy there is a good basis platform to work from.

A aluminium shed kit. Rental Concrete mixer for the floor. The bamboo of America PVC pipe. Some Low Velocity Fans. A low volt heater coil. The cool factor multiplier..a solar collection panel to run the fans and heater coil. This way there would be ZERO cost to your eletrical bill.

Post the plans here so it can be discussed :D
(thereby fulfilling Alcina's 3rd criteria - endless discussions on how it can be done...)

No really, please do, it sounds like a good idea!

Trouble maker!!:rofl3: We could also consider cooling for the warmer months, humidity controll, and perhaps a power routing transfer system to deliver excess wattage back to the main power grid. Also we could begin planning the security system:popcorn:

Our whole motivation in doing projects is to justify the addition of tools to our collections or to try new products. The result needs to have a gee whiz factor so we can have bragging rights too. Why else would we do projects around the house?

I have a big porch that need painting and that's having a real hard time competing with diving for my attention. Meanwhile I am scheeming on how to set-up my basement gear locker for when I move out of the garage in a month or so. Suit dryier, draining rinse tank with warm water feed, you get the picture.

If there's one thing I'd really really like to have in my garage, it would be a lifter so that I could do auto underchassis work easily, as opposed to using ramps. :D

*Sigh!*

I'm getting tired of having to come up with reasons for getting bits of gear. I'm trying to get my girlfriend used to the idea of "because I want one..."

Of course, it would have to work both ways...

another *sigh*

Much as it's fun (and justified :D ) to pick on the guys, it's not just a guy thing. I'm sometimes "guilty" of the most of this stuff. We're both engineers, so we kinda alternate trips to the HW store. Of course when I do it it makes sense. ;)

I was thinking the same thing . . .in my relationship, I'm definitely the one that has more power tools and gadgets of that nature. But I have the engineer thing going on too - and I live in a 90 year old house that is in need of some improvements, while the BF is still in an apartment. So of course, given my background vs. his, my way is always the best :D

well...I would look at the bright side. Sometimes they put lawn chairs and little tv's out there.

If you put a cooler and some beer out there....and make sure the tv gets Speed Channel.

Also, you live the PNW. It rains all the time, holes in the ceiling for ventilation would get your gear wet something like 300 days a year.
But I'm just bitter because we're in an apartment and don't have a shed let alone a garage.
