Curiosity question. I couldn't find a thread on this anywhere,
and if there is one, I apologize.

Anyway. Why do you dive?

You know those dreams you have in the morning, where you are
conscious of your surroundings, but you are still asleep and
dreaming? (Ok... maybe I'm a freak :goofy: )

Well, for as long as I can remember, I've been having a dream
where I am very aware of my breathing, but in the dream I'm
underwater. Whenever I've had that dream, I've awoken in
such an excited, euphoric state, that I had to start diving!

Diving is something I have wanted to do since I was 7 or 8 years old. The only true regret I have in life is that I didn't start much sooner ie nearly 40 years sooner. I like being on the water, in the water, and under the water.

Was always one of those things, "that would be cool, I'll get around to it" Then when I started crewing and after maintain days everyone else would go diving... I got tired of being left behind on the seawall (was only two weekends). So I got around to it.

Personally, I was dragged and coerced into this horrible sport. ;)

My g/f has been diving for a few years and "bugging" me to get my cert so we could go diving together. She was living in San Jose at the time and me in the LA area. She would come down and we would go over to Catalina, she to dive me to snorkle. I was giving it a great deal of consideration when I went to Maui and while snorkling, discovered the real beauty of the underwater life.

However, I didn't get my cert until a year later when the g/f moved in with me and really put the press on (she didn't have to twist to hard). Been certed for 1 1/2 years now and can't get enough of it.

"Now you know, the rest of the story".

My best friend had been diving for a couple years, and kept after me to get certified. Then, within a month of each other, I found out that my folks were moving to Maui, and some of my other friends would be taking an OW class. Seemed like good timing, and I've no regrets whatsoever. Love the water.

A Friend of mine wanted to learn to dive and the LDS told him he needed a dive buddy if he wanted to be a diver. He asked me if I would try it with him. I had never even though of doing it before and knew nothing about diving. I took to it like a fish takes to water and within 3 years I was a divemaster running trips for the LDS then went out on my own and for the last 10 years have run a dive charter. Funny thing is my "Buddy" that talked me into it didn't like it and doesn't dive

Diving is something I always wanted to do but could never find the time.
I was at my wife's parents house over the Christmas period and my brother in law was going on about a trip that he had planned to the Red sea. He also told me some stories about other places he had been to and to tell the truth I was very jealous.
He said I should give it a try and I said "Yeah yeah, one day" but he made me ring his DM there and then to arrange a 'come and try' day.

I haven't looked back since. :)

I started diving because I wanted to become cave certified. My girlfriends father is a cave diver, and he got me even more interested in it.
