Why can't scuba tanks be set up like a firefighter's scba?

I want to mount my tank sideways rather than inverted :)

I would do something like that just to make people's heads explode. Maybe three 19cf ponies in a manifold...

One of my friends who crewed on Andrea Doria trips for years used inverted doubles for wreck diving back in the day. He is a boatyard guy and ace fabricator so he made a cage over the valves and there was a giant knob for the isolator that he reached between his legs. It was pretty cool but way too heavy for me to stand up in!

Here's the valve-down protector I made. I also have them on sets of baby doubles, Faber 45 and 50s. I can reach the isolator, which points to my back, by bending over and reaching back. The post valves are easy to reach from the sides.

Oh boy, I'm a different person now and not really in the mood.
Go for it and let us see pictures.
Hey, everyone of us was a different person ten years ago!
Nobody is saying you did something wrong! I do understand the problems very well !!!

As a sidemount diver I just try to find other points of view.
Because... inverted backmount does interest me.
I would be humored to see the hose routing.
Hoses can be routed in many ways and rarely does it matter how they are routed.
Very few of us go to such places where hose routing actually matters.
The challenge you present, is good though!
You know this stuff of course.
Just repeating for clarity.
Also a video of the firefighter-inspired pack drop of a solid wall tank +scuba unit onto the pavement from a standing position.
Why would you drop it onto the pavement?

I have tried backmount, sidemount, bellymount, nomount and over the shoulder.
It is fascinating that you can suggest something new!
I must try sidewaysmount this summer!
