Why aren’t there any German regulators?

Not regulatotrs, but the Heinrichs Weikamp, the manufacturer of the OSTC dive computers are German.

I was speaking to the head of BMW about that just last week, and he said "Regulators? What is this regulators? This is a TOY, let the Swiss make it. We are engineers. And besides, good German air is capable of regulating itself without the need for mechanical assistance. Really, such a foolish question."
 
you ever try to replace anything on a newer vw group vehicle? even the simplest little things are buried so goddamn deep in the engine bay

a german reg would somehow end up needing you to completely disassemble the first stage to replace the lp hose orings

Agreed, a German reg would be needlessly complex and cost 3X as much.
