DIR- GUE Why are non-GUE divers so interested in what GUE does?

I am actually surprised at my level of ignorance.

I honestly did not realize it is a non-profit organization. Understanding that fact makes it easier for me to understand how they can price course well "above market" and conduct, even initial, training that is much longer than agencies that are trying desperately to turn a profit.

It's like a Golf club in Europe.

Could have just done an evalution dive prior to the class. Not that hard for an instructor to find out if a student is good enough.

With this guy, it was odd, had done Fundies tech and Tech 1, received his passes and was all into to becoming full GUE. Nothing to indicate his cave performance.

I meant you could do an evaluation dive if people without prior gue wanted to cross over.

There's nothing wrong with people who have just taken fundies to share their experience. Nothing. I hear people talk about so called "zealots" online. But what I see in my region (Seattle) is people thrilled for a high value course in which their skills dramatically improved.

This is why fundies is recommended so frequently by people who haven't even advanced to T1.

We need to remember that fundies is a recreational skills course, and thus is beneficial to everyone, whether they want to dive according to the GUE philosophy and configuration or not. Go back to your split fins and jacket style BCD if you want. The skills are not blocked by diving outside of the GUE philosophy and configuration.

I do find it interesting that Halcyon advertises its new Legend™ wing as "is shaped to maximize the ease of horizontal positioning". Something GUE used to teach....now I guess you can forgo instruction and buy gear.

We used to use the phrase "Equipment solution to a skills problem."
