Why are BP/W users more common on this board than at the beach?

I tried out a BP/W for a couple of dives and to be honest it wasn't for me. I prefer my jacket bc. But then isn't that what most of diving comes down to....preference?

yes i agree , it is familiarity with the equipment that makes or breaks the usage.

i never had the BP/W force me to the face-down position. as a matter of fact, my rigging lifts me above water slightly tilted to my back with my chest completely out of the water.
