Yup, I went through the same process: saw adjusters as an unneeded complication for many years, but now find them useful when tuning hot for the above reasons (and when reg is parked as octo or stage)...

I also dive "hot" tuned regs. I have found the gas consumption to be less not more. Psychologically if something is "easier" to do it becomes less stressful and more relaxing. Less stress and more relaxed usually means better air consumption...at least to me it does
I like a hot tune for the same reasons. Like the tuning knob for convenient detune when needed.

I am surprised this is a new thing for some divers.:whisper:

Yes I always have liked the adjustment knob. I dislike a reg that is too tight, but it is much worse to have it start freeflowing and dribbling air. I feel very out of control when that happens.

Right now my reg WILL freeflow a little with the knob out, but I just need to tighten it up in the morning and on the first decent of the day if I am doing it vertically and face down, then I often have to tighten it up a tad more. Upon reaching the bottom, I might loosen it a 1/4 turn. I think it is worth having simply for the ability to make the second stage seats last longer, if nothing else.

I hot tune, adjust on the fly, and might play with cracking pressure later.

Besides, my wife says I adjust my knob too much🙄

Personally I slather this stuff everywhere south of HP O2 for big corrosion protection-lubrication-sealing

NASA use inspired (not that there is anything wrong with that) no substance CHRISTOCRAP is just that

when you use it outside an unsealed reg-component, lexvil
