got a call from Olympus service that my beloved 8080 is ready and repaired. It took only 11 days for oly guys to send it to Portugal, fix it and send it back to Finland again :D :D Me one happy photographer :)

If only I'd be able to get my oly wet someday soon...
Correction: If only I'd be able to get my housed oly wet someday soon :D No need to flood this one

Credit where credit is due, that is great service.
Yes lets keep the water on the outside of our housing.
What was the problem with it?

Problem was bad ccd. Oly had installed a bad ccd with scratches in it. Wonder how it got through their quality control. I didn't notice it until I got my camera wet and had some blue backgrounds. There were lines going from bottom left all the way to top left of picture. Sent oly service an e-mail and they asked me to take my camera to a service center. I waited until my warranty was running out - was afraid it's gonna take loong time and didn't want to be without my camera - and took it to service center. Those guys were super fast and now I even got 6 months more warranty for all those repaired components. Bad thing is that they had no idea what was replaced or repaired in the service center :) Guy said that they are only codes and he doesn't know what they mean. Maybe I should google those codes.

So problem was a manufacture flaw but they sure did fix it fast! It didn't cost me a penny ofcourse.

Well credit where credit is due, they did fix it and quickly.

I am starting to practise with my 8080, getting some good surface shots. Shooting raw it takes a long time to save the pictures to the microdrive that I have. I will need to test with a memory card.
There is a lot to learn, so many buttons, dials, etc, to do the things you need to do.
Did you practise on land to get used to the housing?

Don't buy a fast and expensive memory card!!! It's the bridge that's slow. You can't speed it up by buying daster memory. RAW is practically unusable in 8080. Which is a pity . There are some reviews on memory speed with 8080. Didn't find the page just now but anyway camera writes stuff slower than even the slowest memory cards are able to save data.

Hey kapula, glad to hear you got the camera back and it's working well! That is great service.
