I second that. I don't use it, and I find it uncomfortable, but PADI requires that I have it when involved with classes.

or even dangling nerd like on my mask.

that's the DORK DIVER in you:rofl3::dork2::dork2::dork2:

i have mine securely fastened to my mask only when i am in class or with students. the last time i had one on a personal dive, i almost killed myself. i was so intent on taking care of and watching the wife, i got to about 5-7 feet down before realizing it was the snork instead of my reg in my mouth.:no

My instructor insisted I wear one during my recent Rescue class, and sure enough, he signaled OOA and my regulator hose tangled in it. I was able to get the regulator to his mouth and then untangle the hose, but it's not something I'll be doing again.

I have one in my bag but I don't use it unless the dive operator requires it. I have been diving with two different dive operators that required one (Hawaii and Mexico - both were drift dives). I personally prefer diving on wrecks and would Never carry one on a wreck dive.

I wear a J tube as well and I never find it's in the way, I also carry a lot of other stuff with me that may be considered DORKISH!:dork2:

Been there too. It's called a brain fart ;)!

"Snorkel? I don't need no stinkin' snorkel!"

Always bring one onboard dive boats, some of them require it.

In big seas, I'll bring along a snorkel in my pocket for the end of the dive, when I'm bobbing around in the big waves.

I used mine for all my classes because I had too. I don't use it on my regular dives in the quarry because it always seems to be in the way, and I don't have to do much surface swimming.

I used it this past week in the ocean (first ocean dives), and ended up sucking up more water than when first learning mask clears in OW class. Then during the dives it would wither poke me in the head or get tangled on my camera. Unfortunately, it was required to have it so I couldn't leave it in the bag like I wanted too.

LOL, that is funny ;). Thanks, proud to be a dork nerd diver :14: .

Really, I use a snorkel so rarely I am not sure where it is at the moment.

Why use a snorkel in a class just because PadI requires it. Why don't you PadI types collectively insist that PadI re-write it's often silly and outdated standards. Why pretend in a class and mislead students--nobody uses a snorkel except Dive Training Magazine Models.

Nothing better than a good snorkel thread except for a good MOF thread, MOF with attched snorkel--MORWAS---yeah:popcorn: .
