Who dives with a snorkel?

Used to use one now I don't (in most cases) but I do keep one in my bag in case it's required by the boat captain. I would like to keep a fold up snorkle in my pocket but I can't seem to find one anywhere. Suggestions??

I heard in state parks you can get a ticket for not having one! is that true?
 
I do in warm water. No real harm in having one imo. However, when I first dove in kelp, the snorkel would catch and nearly tear the mask off my face. So for California diving I bring it but leave it in the dive bag.
