Today was a pretty diving day at White Point in San Pedro, CA. We joined the Greater Los Angeles Council of Divers for a 3R's program (Rips, Rocks, & Reefs). The current was mellow on the South-facing beach, with viz away from the lush kelp about 10'. Schools of opal-eyes and lots of bat stars accented the purple-urchin littered rocks. Before the dive, there was a briefing by several Los Angeles County instructors. They gave illustrated & accesorized lectures on the sea life & the underwater geography of the beach. Afterwards, we had a cookout.

The 3R's is offered every month from May thru October at various LA-area beaches. This was the first time I had attended, but I know I will be back in the Spring!
