I have an Atomic Z2 regulator.

I ordered the SeaCure (type 2) moldable mouthpiece because the one the comes with the reg. is uncomfortable.

Just by sight, the type 2 seems too small for the reg..but the Rep. at Atomic told me that any reg. mfd. after 2005 would use the type 2. I purchased my reg. in 2008.

Anyone know if the SeaCure type 1 would fit my reg.?

Thanks,

Sy

Sy, if nothing else I will provide you with a bump...

I have the Seacure (type 2) for both me and the wife... Using SR1 regs (sherwood) and they fit even tho the packaging does not state it will.

If you are unsure and IF your buying at your LDS then carry in your regs and have it fitted right then and there... If it fits, great...! if not, try the other 2 if they carry them...

Sorry I can not be of any more help....

The eacure size charts indicates Atomic takes a 1.

The back of the Seacure packaging has a ? next to the Atomic. Out to the side, it says you have to measure Older A 1 / Newer A 2.

It does not state what manufacturer year denotes "older"

Looks like fitting one a the LDS is the best bet.

.....per my own experience, a Seacure I fits my older pre 2005 B1, and the Seacure II fits my 2008 vintage T2.....if you try to fit the mouthpiece 'cold', it will quite a struggle...the trick is to slightly soften one end of the mouthpiece.......slightly soften, remember that, so it's pliable enough to slip over the 2nd-stage orifice......if you get it too soft it will distort, lose it's shape and you won't be able to get it to seal on the 2nd-stage properly....so it will leak......I BARELY dip one end of the mouthpiece in hot water. JUST enough to soften up JUST enough of the mouthpiece to enable you to overcome the resistance and slip it on the reg...if you dip too much of the mouthpiece in the hot water, it will likely collapse/fold up like a crushed beer can when you try to slip it on......game over.....the mouthpiece is ruined !

I bought the SeaCure on the Net from ScubaToys.

I would take the original mouthpiece off the reg. and see if the Type 2 fits but just measuring the "neck" of the mouthpiece, the original is about 1/2" wider than the SeaCure so I don't think it will work and will order the type 1.

Thanks for your feedback.

There is some understandable confusion about which size SeaCure fits the Atomics regs. Scubafanatic is correct. Before 2005, a SeaCure I fit the Atomic regs. But Atomic told us that during 2005 they gradually enlarged the orifice of their regs, without changing the model names or numbers. So, any of the newer enlarged orifice regs use a SeaCure II. If you know that your Atomic reg was manufactured around 2005, the only way to know which SeaCure to use is to measure. The measurements for our size I and II mouthpieces can be found on our website, Seacure - Custom Mouthpiece. You can also find the most up to date regulator compatibility list there.

I started this thread and now have the Seacure Models 1 and 2 for my Atomic Z2 regulator which I ordered from ScubaToys.

I'm not sure what to do as there seems to be no consensus on this and the SeaCure site doesn't even show the Atomic regs at all.

Just visually, the Seacure Models 1 and 2 seem way too small for the Atomic's "neck". An earlier poster suggested a method of heating one side of the SeaCure mouthpiece to get it to fit but I don't want to get into that type of "customization".

Any advice will be appreciated. Otherwise I will just have to return them.

Thanks,

Sy

I use Atomic regs and SeaCure mouthpieces without issue, but don't remember which number Seacure. If you've taken the old mouthpiece off and the SeaCure still visually seems way too small, then it is.

I have both these items and the Seacure II fits. It's tight, but it does fit and I LOVE it. I even converted my skeptical husband to Seacure.
