Hi everyone,

I am new and am looking for a decent set of regulators/gauges which I can keep while it fits my pocket. Hope you don't mind my newbie questions. I have read about which brand to go with, balance/unbalance, rebuiltable/not-rebuiltable, etc, but still don't know which is which when I look at the actual reg, and don't want to spend to much to get new or top of line. Anyway, I found a good deal on this Sherwood set. Can someone be able to tell how old this is and if I still can be able to find rebuild kit for them? If I have to spend $100 for pro to rebuild, then it will not worth it?

For the same price, I can get similar set but Mares MR12 III main regulator. Is this better?

Any opinion is appreciate.
Thanks

Looks like Sherwood Brut either 7000 or 5000 series. Parts kits are no problem, anything else internal that might (but rarely) need replacement is hit or miss. A workhorse regulator, nothing notable either positive or negative.

addendum: I should add that I think operation of the purge on these is needlessly and annoyingly stiff. Not for use by a young junior diver with small hands.

Where are you located?

It's an older Sherwood Blizzard or possibly a Magnum - IDK the line well enough to be sure.
Real solid reg in it's time but I would not pay a lot for it now. It should be good to use if you can get it serviced but at $100 for service - add 0$150 or so more and you can buy new....(not including gauges/octo)

The gauges look to be late 80's or maybe a little newer.

How about telling us the PRICE? so we can comment on the deal.

sorry for too many choices and diff price levels. Not sure which is the best for the price, I am going up step by step from ground to the accepted point. Hope someone can point out the good/bad. Most important to me is if the rebuild kit is available or not.
Thanks in advance.
