I keep mine in my right pocket. But let me be clear: I don't give a **** where you keep yours. Let me know before the dive and leave it at that.

Standardizing pocket contents is going a bit far...

The theory is to keep stuff you need urgently in the right pocket, because it's quicker to access. Thus spare mask, wetnotes, safety spool all go in the right. Of course, that means you keep all the stuff you USE all the time in the pocket that's harder to get in and out of . . . :idk:

Well Rainer yes and no about standardization of the pockets. I was just thinking recently about that and looks like the mask belongs to the right pocket if you go with the DIR config as it's accessed much quicker and I do not have to clip off the light while accessing it:) and the bottles on the left are not on my way.

Then logically I put my spool attached SMB and other things that I use (as TSandM says) in the left.

The only thing I think I read somewhere in the GUE docs that the SMB + spool are to be put into the right and a safety spool to the left which confused me a bit :)

I must have either misunderstood that source before or it was outdated. Looks like what I was expecting.

I keep all my 'emergency' stuff in the right so its unencumbered and easy to access should the need arise. My left pocket hold stuff I plan on using because it can be accessed while scootering. No need to stop to get stuff out.

The whole thinking diver thing is over rated...Short term memory loss plus being narced diving on air, I don't think I could remember if you told me the mask was in the left...sorry :depressed:

+1 for standardization:rofl3:

Specifically because the two major DIR agencies are divergent on this point, I just make a point to pay especially close attention during gear checks. Besides, if someone loses their mask, I imagine they're going to be the one reaching into their pocket for the backup while I assist with buoyancy.
