for those diving on a helium based bottom mix, are you keeping helium in your deco mix as well? Or when you say that I switch to 32% or 50%, etc., are we talking a straight nitrox mix?
I do NOT use helium in my deco mixes. Frankly, when I am ascending, I generally prefer to get off helium sooner rather than later, so sometimes I use 30% and 100% to move from my backgas sooner. Otherwise, like Tortuga68 and LiteHedded, my primary approach is to use both 50% and 100%, although I couldn't vote that option.

I like to get off of helium as soon as possible, so I go to 32% at 130 feet, then go to 50% at 70 feet.
We have a similar approach... EAN32 at 100 ft. and EAN 70 at 40 ft. Still use an LP 72 steel for the EAN70 as it maximizes the use of O2 when partial pressure blending without a booster.

I am among those who will typically use both 50% and 100% on longer/deeper deco dives, but I also do a fair number of dives that I only finish off with 100%, so that makes 100% the most frequent use.

I have done some dives in which I have switched to 21/35 during the ascent, but not many.

I use both ean50% and/or 100% depending on the dive, time, and depth. I tend to "feel" better when using 100% but prefer being able to get on 50% sooner if needed.

Personally I would be a little worried about an N2 slam, then in getting off the helium. I only use an intermediate gas if there is a profound benefit, and then I like to keep the FN2 close, increase the O2 and decrease the He.

Most of my staged decompression dives are longer times at relatively shallow depths, so I use O2. On the rare occasion where I do square profile dives in the 150 foot range, I use 50%.

On deep staged deco dive i'll use 50/50 starting at 70ft and switch to 100% at 20ft. Some of these deco's will require an O2 break so ill switch back to a useable deep gas when need.

Remember to pre-plan your Deco and watch your CNS.

For accelerated fly times do to my day job i'll use a 100% O2 at 20ft to help reduce my DESAT time if I'm pushing it when assisting with students.

Depth is going to determine if you need helium in the deco mix (like Tx 12/60); at least for me. Once I leave the bottom I want to get onto a deco gas ASAP and below 40m you will have to add some He.

I use the best deco gas(es) for the dive. Maybe its air, 36 and 80... Maybe its just 80. Maybe its just 50 or even 40.

I rarely use pure O2 in favor of 80%
