To dive any of the Keys deep wrecks (60'+) you will be required to show an AOW or better cert. You can have 9 dives in the log and as long as dives 5-9 are AOW your good to go! :mooner: I am not sure where this requirement came from but it is very real.

I honestly have never dove with an Op that did not require proof of certification and a nitrox cert if diving nitrox. My experience has been to board a boat plan on proof of certification. Shore diving not so much!

It would make sense for PADI and other agencies to have one card which they can add letter codes to which signify particular qualifications. The single photo ID diver card would then be like a license upon which could be added further advancements in training or specializations.

My wife has about sixty store cards and dozens of other bits of plastic distributed in revolving chaos between seven purses. It's safer for me to carry both our PADI OW and c-cards in my wallet all the time. I have to be really careful shopping at Costco because to bring the membership card I had to leave my health insurance card at home.

I'm waiting for the PADI injectable nanotech RFID when it becomes available.

Don't say stuff like that too loud! All we need are new zero to hero instructors running around with needles to inject people with!

You might have the dives recorded on a dive computer, or even a laptop/pc, but there's no proof of 'ownership' with that (i.e. that you did those dives).
I use the Dive Log app on my iPhone, and it synchronizes nicely with MacDive - showing depth profile, comments, etc. After losing my first paper log, I decided to switch to a computerized version with automatic backups.

SSI does something like this, when they issue you an advanced diver card they list your four specialties you took to achieve the advance diver rating. The down side to the all in one card is I have been told by several people that they were refused nitrox at destination resorts because they wanted to see a separate nitrox card and the nitrox rating on the ADV card would not due. I would have to say the best advice would be to contact the dive op before hand and see what hoops you need to jump through to do the dives you want to do.
