Hi, am helping a friend to decide on his first bp/w system. Have narrowed it down to:

1) DSS - Single tank rig with Kydex plate, HOG harness, Torus 26 wing

or

2) Oxycheq - Al backplate, HOG harness, Mach V Signature series wing

Diving would be in warm waters, single tank, recreational non-tec.

Based on the above, which would you guys recommend?

Many thanks.

Oh no....

There was a lengthy thread a while back in which this was debated rather forcefully...

The short easy answer is that they're both excellent set ups made by excellent companies.

there are many lengthy threads and debated is an understatement! I agree that the equipment is very good. DSS gets my vote for service.

My shop sells DSS and Oxycheq.
They are both good rigs - you can't go wrong with either one.
I prefer the smaller profile of the Oxycheq, its thicker urethane bladder, and sturdier outer shell.

I seriously looked at both. DSS had a slight edge in that the wing can be removed from the B/P without removing the cam straps. The Oxycheq rig was close to $100 less due to some sales at the time. My pocket book won, but I would be more the pleased with either.

Hi guys, many thanks for your replies and comments. I hope I have not opened up another round of debate :depressed:

I have heard several good things about DSS as well as Tobin is a frequent visitor on Scubaboard and seems very quick to help with any answers or concerns. So customer service goes along way I have not seen anyone from oxycheq but that does not mean that they wouldnt be as helpful.

I was recently looking at a DSS or Golem setup, Tobin was here to talk to and answer questions so I ordered from him. Theres no replacement for good customer service. I have no experience with oxy but it looks like good stuff.
