Hi,
I'm looking for a converter so i can plug in my laptop and digital camera. Where can I buy one?

There's lots of places that sell the typical 220 --> 110, but with 127 its a bit odd.

Any ideas?

thanks,

DArryl

you might check with www.MobilePlanet.com

They are pretty good with all things associated with laptops.

Also, hop on a search engine and look for "travel accessories" and see who pops out.

OK,
My laptop was a bad example. I just took a look at the power supply, and it says it can accept between 110 to 220V, so its ok. My camera is a different story though. I'll check out MobilePlanet and see.

If all you want to plug in is the power supply for your digital camera, you should be OK. I don't believe the 50 Hz issue is a factor except for electric motors. 60 Hz motors will tend to run hot (and perhaps burn up) if run for long periods at 50 Hz.

I was in Aruba a couple of years ago and I seem to remember plugging in my digital camera battery charger with no ill effects.

Lots of luck.

I've thought about that, but it scare the crap out of me. If I were to burn out my $1000 camera, it would really make me unhappy :)

Where the heck did they get such an odd system from anywhere.

I'd expect a 120V/60Hz power supply to work just fine at 127V/50Hz. Check the label carefully. To be sure, I'd ask the manufacturer of the laptop or camera.

I was in Bonaire on my boat, Vinga, and was in the Harbour Village Marina. All my stuff is American. I distilled everything I heard about the European electricity there, and it seems that an electric motor would run slower and hotter (hairdryer) Anything with a chip in it (microwave, anything with a led light indicator) would be ruined.
It might be a very good idea to invest in a converter, but for camera batteries, I think the photo shops at the resorts help out their customers. E-mail the resort you're going to, they'll know.
Cheers,
Melissa
