Hey, I'll be in Thailand from Feb to May. Probably going to do about 80-120 dives during that time. I'm having a really hard time finding a dive website that will rent pony's. Is it common or uncommon? Can I just purchase one there? I'd like to sling a 40 or 30 cu ft. I have everything except the pony bottle.

I was supposed to have one from my LDS tomorrow, but now they are saying march... Any suggestions or ideas would be great. Will be both on the adaman sea and gulf islands.

You can rent a pony from the DC you'll be diving with.

You can try looking for dive operators who cater for tech diving. They will have stage rigging and cylinders - possibly 40 cu ft.

Alternatively, look for dive ops that offer the SDI solo diving or Padi self reliant courses. They will probably have pony cylinders as they are required for those courses. Do check their pony capacities beforehand.

There really is no need to make it more complicated than it is: check with the DC you booked with.

I take the point that you think it is complicated. I prefer to presume that the OP is quite capable of doing a simple key word search to locate dive operations that would have a pony or stage.

Thanks, I don't have a DC in mind. I checked a number of DC websites and it was very rare that they had one. I only found one of 20+, especially since I'll be all over thailand. Per Steven, it seems like pony's should be pretty easy to get at DCs in thailand.

I will def check with the tec n self reliant DCs since I plan on getting my self reliant cert as well. That idea was really helpful.

    Cheers

The result of which would not be compliant with reality.

For ppl who scourer the forums, on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand renting or buying a pony is basically impossible. One shop will sell you a new pony named "The Workshop". Helps a lot to call it a small tank vs a pony bottle.

Ill update for my adaman sea adventures
