Where to buy Line for Tying off Equipment

Hello,

Where do you folks buy your line from (say #24 for example)? I image cave divers just have excess handy from large spools, but for non-cave-divers, looking for a small amount of line for general rigging purposes?

Braided cord on ebay. I buy 1.5 or 2mm white nylon.

Do you own a spool or reel?

If not you should buy one with a DSMB - cut a piece of line off the spool and use that and then retie the spool end.
Generally your LDS or online store can provide the line.

I am starting from scratch; perhaps just buying a reel early on is the way to go.

You will use a finger spool much more than a reel if you dont own one right now... and it is less expensive...

I have bought 1,4mm braided polyester cord at a local store that sells it as line you have in window blinds.

200m for about $10

Everbilt #18 x 250 ft. Pink Braided Nylon Mason Twine-73296 - The Home Depot

250' for $5.50, works well. Used a lot in a local lake, ran lines in case of a silt out, it's a long story. The pink was the easiest to see in silted conditions. Years later it still holds a boltsnap on the hose where I put it.
