Sibermike, well, we gave the editors of PADI's Sport Diver a chance to correct their story on Split fins..and guess what? They asked for back -up data which we provided and they just shined us on. So here is our letter to them, so we might correct the fact's right here on Scubaboard.

Re: “Split Fins Engineered Comfort”
Sport Diver, the Official Publication of the PADI
Dear Eric,
Please let me welcome you to the diving industry. There seems to be an
oversight within the text of the above referenced article. David Benz, Al
Hornsby and everyone else of seniority at PADI, and anyone who has come
over from acquisition of “Rodale’s Scuba Diving” can confirm for you the
facts.
The article begins with the statement: “[T}echnology … based on each side
of the split blade twisting independently to create lift that translates
into greater thrust” was “originally developed by Nature’s wing Fin
Design”. The fact is that Bob Evans, inventor of the Force Fin, patented
the same or similar technology prior to Nature’s Wing Fin Design. Split
Fins were introduced by Force Fin prior to any licensed by Nature’s Wing.
In 1999, Force Fin’s Fab Force, which included one of Force Fin’s many
Split Fin designs was awarded by DEMA as the product most likely to
succeed.
We encourage you to give us a call to find out more.
Please run a correction in all venues where your article was published,
and make any corrections to your website. Please respond with confirmation
of your receipt, understanding and action.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Bob Evans Designs, Inc.
