Snorkel just gets in the way when using a long-hose. I MUCH prefer to surface swim on my back otter style (even in SM with LP steel tanks). The only exception is when I have to surface swim through kelp. On those dives I then mount it on my mask and deal with the hassle underwater - too lazy to move it.

In the trash!

Seriously though, I don't have one anymore. At one point I did, now I don't. It's just not useful or suited to the types of diving I do, although I did borrow one to film a CW1 session for an instructor a couple weeks ago.

That is not an endorsement for not having a snorkel. They can be useful in some circumstances, and it's on you the diver to determine what those circumstances are.

Some divers come to SB to learn how to use a snorkel, and some come to teach, while others just lurk, waiting to tell divers where to stick their snorkel...

If im diving it in my gear bag. If im snorkeling its in my mouth. I love doing both so bring it along on every trip.

My foldable snorkel is in my BCD pocket, along with other safety gears (DSMB, flashlight, mirror & PLB1) & backup console computer.
