Many have tried to put the thread to death, all have failed, some of us continue to try- but backslide, when fresh meat falls in the pit. I agree. Having at the top of the new posts list just encourages others to get sucked into the thread about the thread about exploding tanks, or creation vs evolution.

OTOH, I would rather be trapped in a thread about a thread about those things, than to actually be trapped in the thread itself!
