I'm unaware of any team that has laid "claim" to private property. Other teams have been granted access to Rose (there are 3 permits) as well as Wakulla (deep cave team and WKPP). I think you're mistaking research groups with groups designed to allow access to cave systems.

I've participated in 3 different Florida based permits, by simply submitting my diving resume and offering to help with the organizations goals while following their procedures.

Try to keep up with me here. There ARE caves outside of Florida. I said PUBLIC not private.

Around Texas, the OCDA is active and I've received more than one offer to join them. If you're interested I can give you contact information for an active member who could help you become involved. Every cave I mentioned in my post is on public owned land.

So, if you take conditions and permits out of the equation. Am I hearing squatters rights here? A team incapable or unwilling can claim public property???

If conditions aren't an issue, and neither are permits, you and your bros can make your own project and go nuts.

Hancock surveyed almost all of Ginnie without a permit or conditions problems. Same thing people taking the initiative with the last survey of Little River, the Millpond caves, and others I can't even think of right now. Mat Bull & company just relined a few thousand feet of cave without a permit because its open access diving. You can do it too!

Thanks, for the generous offer. I think I have contacts already. This wasn't where I was headed with the topic exactly.

Where were you headed? I got the hint that you were implying a specific permit, but your conditional statements summarized so many...

So, I wonder how many agree with this? This makes sense to me.

How do you start a poll here?

Nope, no specific permit. I can understand special permits or bad or adverse conditions extending a project. I don't understand cave squatting for no other forseable purpose.

Who's doing that? Why are you being so cryptic and not just saying what you mean?

I don't understand, either. If there is no permit issue, and no conditions to contend with, then I guess nothing is really stopping you from doing whatever you want in there.

Believe me, if I come across the end of a line with some going passage after it, its getting line dumped into it. I'll give the survey to the dude who's name is on the last arrow  Now, if I was asked not to, I'd respect that (and I expect the same in return).
