Hi guys! i just purchased the Colbalt by atomic aquatic and it runs RGBM.. So i wanna know what is a good Back up Wrist Computer? X1? or the Galileo Luna/sol. or the uemis SDA? Please help, cuz i cant make up my mind.... THANKS

I don't see the point of spending a lot of money on a backup computer, even if the cash is trivial to you. You don't want to look like that guy on the golf course with the shiny custom clubs and the 24 handicap. Since my backup computer doesn't actually get used, just dragged along, I got one that was compatible with my electronic log, so that I could continue logging in the same format. I also chose it because I was familar with its interface, having used prior versions of that computer.

If your after an algorithm that will match the Cobalts recreational RGBM your out of luck.

It seems an odd idea to consider a backup that's more expensive, & has more functionality than your primary.

As you won't match it's algo, why not consider something cheaper, that you can throw in a pocket, & forget about unless you have a problem with your primary.

A backup of a different make and model from your main also forces you to remember how to operate two different UI's. Both my comps are 4 button Suunto's with the exact same interface. Makes it much easier. Don't forget if your diving nitrox you gotta set both comps.

I wouldn't say it's the 'best' but L.P. (I KNOW, I KNOW !!) has the Tusa IQ 700 for $224. That's dirt cheap ! It's the same exact computer as the Zeagle N2ition, which sells for $399. I'll be grabbing one for a back up in 'Gauge' mode next week. One 'neat' thing about it is it has a 'reset' button on the back that resets ALL functions to the factory settings. So, if you were a bad boy and violated your computer...

If you want a backup, either get a duplicate of your current computer or get a simple computer that can be used as a bottom timer.

Get a Shearwater Predator, and use your current computer as the backup :)
