What's a better deal for me?? (apeks or scubapro)

Hey all,
The guy with the scubapro regs turned out to be overseas diving with whales. That's why comms weren't that great with him and we were unable to get the deal to happen before my dive trip. I ended up getting the APEKS combo from DiveImportsAustralia, arriving only 2 days after I ordered them and in time for my trip!
They worked flawlessly for 27 dives. I don't have a lot to compare too, but seemed to breath very easy. The reg felt as though it was kind of being bulled out of my mouth, but I imagine that was just the stiffness of the new hose. I got used to it pretty quickly and it didn't really bother me.

Awesome diving, awesome regs.

PS. do you really only have to service APEKS every 2 years? I haven't seen that anywhere else and my LDS say every year, maybe just for the $$ though?? ;-)

Here is the service ifo from Apex website:

Q. How often should my Apeks' regulator be serviced?
A. The 2nd Stage should be serviced annually. The 1st Stage should have the intermediate pressure checked and filter changed annually and be fully serviced every 2 years.

Hi Richie75,
i also had the problem with the primary rubber hose causing jaw fatigue. I changed my primary and secondary to the miflex or the generic ones, airflowmaster hoses. Perfect dives after that!
Airmaster Plus LP Braided Hose - Oceanic Scuba Diving & Snorkelling Equipment & Scuba Dive Gear but i am sure you should be able to find it a bit cheaper else where.
