I would like to see a better tank strap made form metal not plastic

Jason - There has been discussion about this from time to time over the years, but I think it all comes back to the point that the red handle is designed to draw attention on the surface/boat/shore/shop.

Once a diver (and dive buddy) understand what it is, and how it works, I believe that the color becomes virtually non-important.

If you know WHERE it is, and HOW to operate it, you just do it.

Oddly enough, I have never seen this discussion regarding black weight belts.

Scott, thanks for that. could you direct me to a few of the links you are referring to? I'm still fairly convinced there might be a better alternative out. The receptors in our eyes do decipher neural information based on a certain spectral threshold and I do not see how this might be different on land nor on the boats.

Quite an astute observation on the weight belts there scott, maybe its the distinct colour contrast of the shiny lead weights?

Jason -

I don't have specific links for you, sorry. There was a discussion on this forum a while back, but a quick search didn't help me find it. Basically, I am just talking about discussion with people over the last 20+ years that we have been making the thing!!!

As for the weight belt issue - most of the lead weights I have are dull and anything but shiny, so unless the buckle is polished up I don't see how anyone could find a quick way to release it. Give me a single pull handle (even if it's red!) over a black belt with grey weights on a black wetsuit anyday!!! ;)

If and when there is a review of the N2ition 3 or a new diving computer is released I would like the following:

CRUCIAL features.

* An actual ascent rate bar (or number) displayed every time a diver is ascending
* Bottom time displayed on the front screen at all times (even on deco mode)
* Bottom time displayed in minutes and seconds

Would give an edge:

*Stop watch/Resetable timer (to time safety stops, available on Tec2G, Stinger and many other pc)

Desirable

* Ability to select the amount of time the back light glows
* Ability to plan Deco dives

And off course ... the software

I'm going with a donut wing with well placed inflator hose valve. I'd lean more toward a 28lb wing than the afore mentioned 18 lb wing. I would trade the donut wing for my 44 lb Ranger wing and use it when teaching and when tropical diving.

Also on the new and so very fine flathead 7, I'd like to see a wider, but cosmetically nicely finished exhaust tee.
The older ZX exhaust tee width is excellent, but the tee itself looks primitive and unfinished, so maybe something like the ZX Tee with a more sophisticated look. Maybe even look into an inline swivel on the second stage to go with the nice short miflex hose.

Maybe I just got a bad one of these.

I bought my DS-V new end last year. Took it on 2 one week dive trips and the knob for adjusting cracking pressure - cracked!

Surprising - I'm pretty easy on my gear.

I originally thought the knob looked pretty sturdy. After it cracked, I looked at my two Scubapro G250s - 10 to 14 years old - old knobs, but no cracks.

A corrugated BC hose with a solid section in the middle with the dump cable attached to each end so that you can use the pull dump if you are using a SS1 Octo Z ect. just by pulling on the solid section in the hose>

this is interesting.... then you could pull dump while you are breathing the OctoZ! Brilliant!

Maybe find a way to route the dump line outside of the OctoZ so you could pull it to dump and wont "pull" is you turn your head?

I wish the inflator hose was placed higher on the shoulder, for one thing. But more than that,
I have had many issues with the inflator/deflator hoses. The old ones are much sturdier and I scrounge as many of those as I can. The new ones just always have issues whether cracking or inflator button sticking all the time, or something. The old ones were better.

How about making the dump cable in the inflator hose out of a more durable material (nylon maybe) ?
