With my son we are new divers and need to get exposure protection appropriate for SoCal. My son is tall and muscular 10 year old. Nobody would ever call him fat but he wont qualify as a skinny kid, no way. He is about 100LB and about 5" tall. Broad shoulders, thick leg muscles and some biceps starting to show. Let's put it this way: he would look pretty funny in skinny jeans, kinda lake that dude in Miller Lite commercial (you, where bartender says to the guy "Kinda like your girlfriend doesn't care if you wear her jeans") Miller Lite Skinny Jeans HIGH QUALITY VERSION - YouTube. Link in case you don't know what I mean:wink:

Now the question: what wetsuit should I look into for him? Obviously, he is growing. I don't want to spend whole bunch of money since suit will need to be replaced frequently. But I also want him to be comfortable. Last year he wore full rear zipper jumpsuit on vacation for his DSD and it was a major pain to put on. With bags on his fit and hands, etc. I don't remember the brand or size but it was very difficult and we spent bunch of time trying to get him into it. However, it still seemed a bit big around his core while being very tight on his legs (both thighs and calfs) and hands. Do I have to go custom for the dude? Any other solutions? I went through size charts for different makers and it appears that Tilos has female XS that seems to match weight-height. Should I try one of those?

Now about me. I'm fairly OK and don't see major problems in finding suitable wetsuit (6'1", 196LB), fairly fit. Might have problem with thighs and hands too, pretty thick bone and muscles, for example, stupid modern "slim cut" jeans that fit my thighs well, normally are one size too big for my 32-33 waist . But otherwise it should be OK. I, however, have an issue with hood. I was thinking about getting vested hood but my concern is my huge head size. I wear 8 Tilley hat and wish it were a little bit looser (also, when GoKarting with my son have to go straight to XXXL size helmet). For all my friends and anybody that that tried it, my hat just falls right to the ear level and could be rotated around. How do I look for an over sized head hood?
