Trying to decide what weight pockets to choose for Diverite Travelpac.

Thinking about going for four of the 4 lbs Travel Weight Pockets -- two on waist band and two on tank band. Should be enough weight for my diving, so thinking the 16 lbs pockets are more bulky than needed, but perhaps somewhat easier to use - fewer pockets, quick release, more flexible taking various weight sizes (will the travel pocket take a slightly larger than normal 2kg+ lead weight?)

Anyone with any Travelpac experience and recommendations on pros and cons on this?

I have 2 XS Scuba pockets on my camband, slid as close the the 'backplate' as possible and each with 2 pounds soft weights. The only issue is that since the pocket covers the velcro on the tank strap, the tank strap free end has very little velcro to attach to. I got Cam Strap Tension Pads from DeepSeaSupply to slide on the cam band (just one of the pads) which helps in that I can slide the loose end of the tank band under one end of the edge of the pad. https://www.deepseasupply.com/index.php?product=43

I use a weight belt with 2 XS Scuba pockets on it. An option would be to put the pockets on the waist strap but my waist just isn't that big. The weight belt sits just below the TravelPac waist strap and is no bother.

Good luck!

The 16b weight pockets are rather streamlined and lay in the direction of the belt. Bear in mind that each side holds 8 lbs. They are dump-able and probably a better solution than having multiple smaller weight pouches placed in different spots on your rig(unless you need that for trip purposes).

I was under the impression, from information on the Dive Rite website, that the Travel Pac would support one AL80 and additional weight not to exceed 10#. Is that correct, or am I misunderstanding the Dive Rite advertisement?

They are actually a bit inconsistent in how they describe it. Yes, some places they say max 10 lbs weight, but other places they say max 16 lbs weight (fx click Tips on this page: SCUBA Diving Equipment for Technical, Sidemount, Rebreather, Wreck and Cave Diving: Dive Rite, Inc - Product Catalog - TravelPac BCD). Max 10 lbs weight is clearly a very conservative statement for a 25 lbs lift wing, but I can understand why they do that, and if you exceed this you should know what you are doing.

I have used DiveRite QR16lb pockets, not sure if they change the design by now. They work well with big piece/bag of weight when you fill them up to close to full. With smaller piece/bag and relatively empty, weight can move around inside and slip out from the bottom corners. I have had 2lb bullets slipped out half way. Luckly my buddy saw it due to the yellow costing of the bullet. Unless you need that kind of capacity, I think XS scuba 5lb pockets are much better choice.
