Disclaimers aside, what valve is the best or most commonly used for a 100% bottle? I'm looking to valve my new in box al40 which is o2 clean, and will again be confirmed prior to usage.

Thanks guys.

DGX has valves specifically made for 02 stage or deco bottles.

I appreciate it but I can't walk into a brick and mortar store here and ask for that.

DGX show 4 basic types, pro valve and modular, In Left or Right. They should all come O2 clean. The only thing special, seems to be the green knob.

Whether you prefer the pro-valve, blue steel type or the modular is just a preference thing. I have both. The modular has that extra protrusion on the side that can make a nice carry-handle, and help with bungees for sidemount. The choice of Left or Right is just based on your needs. Some people always use a "Richer>>Right" rule, so a slung 02 bottle would always be on the right side. But that's not universal. And an o2 bottle mounted for a rebreather will need to match up with that configuration.

Having said all that, in don't think you could go wrong with the DGX modular right (common) side valve. The green knob is a plus, but not really needed.

Any dive shop who is servicing technical divers should have at least one of these options on hand. They might ask you for an AN/Deco card, but I doubt it, as long as you don't sound like a complete moron when you ask for it.

I.e.: just say you need a 200bar DIN valve for you O2/deco bottle. And see what options they have.

I just use a standard valve with a black handwheel. I use stickers to label the tank for 100%, and don't see the need for a colored handwheel.

whatever valve you want I guess. Most of the new thermo's say only up to 40% which is annoying *disclaimer, those are what is on all of my O2 bottles right now, and most of the ones I've seen in cave country*, but a valve is a valve is a valve. So long as it is O2 clean, it's about what you like
