Hello,
I am looking around for a BCD. Dont know which to get.
Dive Rite Trans Pac Harness or Seaquest Black Diamond.

The one that fits you best, is most comfortable and allows the most flexibility for the type(s) of diving you do.

Make sure you get to try before you buy. Even if you need to rent. It is a major piece of gear that can make or break a dive. Don't be afraid to ask if rental $$ will apply to purchase.

Here's my 2 cents. Both are above average. I don't think you would be unhappy with either.

Things I like about the Transpac.

2 tank bands.

Very versatile. You could change wings with this
BC if you ever wanted to go to a larger or smaller wing.

Can be weight integrated if you want, but doesn't have to be.

Things I like about the Black Diamond.

Has pockets. You can add them the the transpac, but they
aren't standard.

Surelock Weight system. I like it better than the transpac
integrated weight system. But that's just me. Plus weight
interation is an option on the transpac.

Someone has to be first, misewell be me. BW/Wing!

LOL - glad you didn't mind jumping into the fray ;)

Cliff - What are your reasons for choosing between these two BCD's? Also what kind of diving are you planning on in the future?

P.S. feel free to ignore us bp/wing trolls too ;)

SECONDED. There's a lovely thread a little below this thats already up to five pages on the exact same subject.

Third on ignoring the BP/W trolls.

Honestly, test stuff out at the LDS or rent gear for a little while. I know you're excited, hell i was too, and impulsively ordered the Zeagle Brigade from Scubatoys. Fortunately, it worked out for me.

There is NO such thing at the BEST BC. There is such a thing on what works best for YOU. This site is a great source, so use it and take every advice, including mine, with a grain of salt and make your own decision.

Whatever you decide, you're going to be happy and it'll make you a better diver.

Good luck and dive safe.

Oxycheq wing/BP setup....how would like like it configured ?

Ron

Good suggestion, Ron.

I'll jump in and add a vote for BP/W setup. If you don't think it's for newbies, that's fine; I can give you a great deal on the SeaQuest Balance I bought before switching to a BP/W after about 20 dives.

:-)

- No weight belt
- No weights
- No bulk
- Just about diving naked

I just tonight completed my conversion to the Dark Side by swapping out my "Deluxe" harness for a Hog-compliant single strap harness.
