I bought the stuff to make a continuous webbing harness and also bought a plastic buckle. I cut the webbing on the left side of the harness and now I slip my right arm in and then buckle the left side. It's a hybrid of my own doing and design and it works well for me. There's no adjusting, though. It's all set up as far as length goes - it just makes it easier to slip my arms in and out and easier to get off.
That's how all the backpacks used to be set up, the left side always had a weight belt buckle right where the D-ring would be on the front side of the shoulder.

One of my dislikes to adjustable harnesses is all of the loose tag ends flapping in the breeze, each equipped with a mini-plastic D-ring to finish off. Just looks unkempt and ugly and not pro much less not Hog.

I like the way the Freedom Plate and old plastic plates cross the straps but I have grown to dislike somewhat the way the VDH plate crosses straps above the top of the plate. It drops the plate so low it ruins my trim and saws at my neck and the bottom of the plate digs into my hips and rear end ;). Of course when diving a double hose regulator I put up with those things. But that is not a compromise I am much willing to make anymore (left).
