I used to take in dog boarders and didn’t charge much. Gee it didn’t take much from me to have another one hanging around. I wasn’t making a living off it and my dog and I both enjoyed it.
It really worked great for the regulars to be somewhere familiar. Dogs are social creatures and can get pretty destructive when bored and getting little attention. Had the perfect dog yard and fence, they were just visiting me and my best friend (dog) with the run of the house. At least they all showed up thrilled to see me again and the owner had to call them to leave. Also did training and problem behavior resolution. Check around for something like that.

I didn’t advertise, people would just call and say so and so’s dog loves staying with you, would you consider mine? If nothing like that is advertised check with any dog trainer types not associated with a kennel. Look for a bulletin board ad at groomers or stores like PetCo.

Give him the car keys and let him go play at the cathouse while your gone. ;)

If you take your dog with you its another piece of topside property for someone to steal or screw with while you're in the water. Find a way to leave him at home. For long trips we kennl our dogs, for short trips we home-board, meaning a dog walker comes three times a day.

Well, when I go on a dive trip, I have a lot more to worry about (10 sheep, 100 chickens, 4 goats, 8 cats 4 kittens), but I'll try to limit my mind to one dog..... Well, I would say that the best thing is a petsitting service, or having a friend take care of him (Cute dog! Is that his picture on your profile?) Where we are, there are quite a lot of elderly people, and many are willing to take care of the dog in their own home for no cost just for the fun of it, or the company. Other than that, I don't really know. That's always what I do...

For day trips, if I can't take the dog, I will leave him at home. I have a doggie door, so if he wants, he can go outside. Yes, the yard is fenced. For weekend trips, if I can't take him with, I have a neighbor who is also a pet sitter. She ends up costing almost as much as a kennel, however, she also feeds the cats and rabbit, will dispense medications if need be, and gives the dog good long walks.

ha ha ha.....I forgot to laugh. No, we have a friend stay and take care of them, or take them to friends

That depends on the dog. Some dogs will keep others from stealing or screwing with your stuff while you're in the water.
