I'm looking to buy a new tank to dive with at one of my local Nebraska mud holes. I would not be diving much deeper than 30-40 feet on average but sometimes will get to dive as deep as 100 feet if I travel. I would like to buy a steel tank but don't know witch brand to consider or what size. I would consider used but am worried about getting a tank full of rust. thanks

Wink,

For what you are looking for, you may want to consider a PST E7-100 tank. Shorter than an AL80. Better buoyancy characteristics and more air.

Just my opinion...

Those LP tanks are nice. My steel tanks are all HP's but I'm thinking about a LP since when you travel you may not find a shop that will provide full fills.

I don't think brand matters much these days. Look for the best value.

Al,

What you need to consider is what you are trying to do with the cylinder you are about to purchase. The type of diving this cylinder will be required to do for you.. In most cases Faber low pressure cylinders work great!

Size is depending on several factors as noted above plus your age or shape you are in. Able to carry and dive without undo stress and your air compsumation rate all play a factor.

Look at our website www.techdivinglimited.com and when you first log in on in the middle of the page you will find were you can click and get all the cylinder specs!

If you have questions and would like to discuss what your options are just email me with a phone number and best time to call. I will be glad to help you.. That what we are here for

I would reccommend a Worthington X-100. It is hot dip galvanized, smaller than an 80 cf aluminum, and in the event you can only get a 3000 psi fill instead of the rated 3442 it will still provide 87 cf of air.

That's what I like about my HP tanks, even if I don't manage to get a full fill I'll still have more air than an AL80.

Get a worthington x7 tank. If you are going to use nitrox, get a big one but if not an 80 or 100 is good

Worthington is the name in HP steel right now. If buying new I wouldn't go LP because of the tank size, with HP there is more gas in less space - but on the other hand you'd find good deals on used LP tanks (request a current VIP, and light rust can be tumbled out). As far as size, well figure out how much gas you need first and what are your buddies using..??
