Hey guys and gals I need your help,

I have a Luxfer 10/86 tank that I have taken out of service as I don’t fee comfortable taking it to be filled anymore. The last hydro and VIP was in 04 but I think because it is right in the middle of the problem area for the 6351 aluminum I will just retire the tank and buy a new one. If someone ever was injured due to a quickly forming crack and resulting explosion, and knowing I could have stopped it would be too hard for me to take.

What I would like to do ask the board about what I can do with this tank. I really don’t want to sell it for scrap so anyone have any suggestions?

I was thinking about cutting it in half putting hinges on it and small shelf’s inside to display shells and other things I’ve found underwater over the years. What do y’all think?

They make a great lamp or you cut the bottom off and make a wing gong/chime.

Cut the bottom off and make a little mini-grill for tailgating.

Buddy of mine runs a company that makes custom grills and firepits out of the bottoms of propane tanks, same concept only smaller.

Cut a slot in it,makes a nice mailbox.:D
Please don't use it as a scubatank anymore.

Cut the top off about 6 to 8 inches down from the neck. Set a piece of safety glass on the bottom portion with the top placed back on. You have a table with a dive tank through it.

Cool, I like this one. We have been looking for a new living room coffee table. If I find another on I could put one at each end. This would look great in our living room (we have a diver deco) with some of our other dive desplays.
Thanks.

If you cut a wedge at either side of the valve it will make a very unusual umbreller stand!
I have had 2 tanks crack on the neck on my compressor but luckily they started to whistle a warning so there was no problem! I would not use your tank again for diving!

Fill it with cement and sink it at your favorite dive site. (with permission, of course)
