Would you expect a crack head locked in a room with a bowl full of crack not to smoke any?

Hello, my name is Steve and I am a gear wh@re..... it has been 24 hours since my last SCUBA related purchase.................

I feel your pain. It's a struggle for me especially when I'm working at 2:30am and there isn't much going on... That's when eBay starts calling :)

Ain't that the truth! I've bought more dive stuff off Ebay from work than at home!

This is normal. The best cure is to buy everything you can afford as quickly as you can; that way, the only things you can lust after are things you can't afford, so you're safe. Ask me how I know . . .

Hmmm. Problem is, there's so often a way of justifying buying the thing you can't afford... Which is why I now own a CCR but don't have the time to go and learn to use the thing. Then there's the sidemount harness which was an absolute steal and I'd have been stupid not to buy it - yep, nearest sidemount instructor is a couple of days' travel away. Fortunately, he works for the CCR instructor. I feel an overseas trip coming on.

And, believe it or not, it actually is possible for a man to own too many bolt snaps and double-enders. I am proof. SCUBA is evil.
