Im not shure about Dive related accident meaning for DAN, what happens if a tank fall on some divers feet on a pool class?? is dive related accident??

I have seen many more divers hurt on the boat or near the boat then from diving.

Droping tanks and weight belts on feet, falling down a ladder in a boat, falling on the deck while gearing up or walking to the gate, taking a T-ladder between the legs, or getting hit by the swim platform has hurt more divers then have ever been bent.

I guess they would be dive related.

Remember there are acccidents that happen while diving and there are dive accidents.

The general definition of a diving accident is that the injured person was breathing compressed air underwater when the causal incident occurred

If your question is about what DAN covers then the DAN website will answer that question

I guess I cut not find in DAN's page that info, I like to know more about dan's coverage because I atended some seminars and they say ''We cover any accident even if you are not in water like a fall on the hot tube in your hotel'', '' We cover a trafic accident if you go dive and is farther away 80 klms from home''. Even they say that they help people in the past Tsunami and they were not diving.... I want to Know more about the subject because I like to answer beter to my students.

If the information is not on the DAN website. I would recommend calling or emailing your questions to DAN. The only people that can give you 100% accurate information about what incidents/accidents that would be covered by DAN is DAN.

I fell walking my tanks up a hill to the car, and broke my orbital floor. DAN considered that a diving-related accident.

A friend fell on a dive boat and broke her arm, and they covered that, too.

The handbook has lots of information for DAN insurance sold within the US:

http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/membership/handbook.pdf

Remember DAN has three three levels of insurance so it may depend on what level you have for what is covered.

Also DAN is secondary coverage so it depends on what other coverage you may have.

I have an accident on a pool after a dive lesson and a tank felt on my foot breaking my toe... I call DAN and they say it WAS NOT A DIVE ACCIDENT¡ I was more tan 100 klics away from home on a dive trip and they not cover...

I used to have platinum coverage....

I was not LUKY enoug...:depressed:
