TSandM:I got GIVEN my slap strap, so I don't mind at all that it has Dive X-tras logo on it. If that's an orange shovel, it just goes with my orange wing
Something that seems like a really good idea at the time, but turns out not to work as expected, and gets replaced very quickly . . . The very definition of an Air2.
Good post. We're all just having a little fun, I'm not feeling any "elitist" vibes here and I sure haven't gotten my feelings hurt over any of my equipment..brdr882:I'd completely agree. That's where most of us started (and still are). Its fun to talk about all of the things that we find useless and to joke about, mostly sense it used to be us. For the most of us its not an attack at new divers, scuba's a fun sport and from what I've found extremely friendly especially towards new divers.
shark.byte.usa:Bright yellow AL80's (those are littered all over on craigslist), many with some clashing neon tank mesh and matching dustcaps
I agree with Jake...I have an orange whistle on my chest D-ring, mesh tank wraps, and a retractor, and I've been diving for years. Why do I have them? They work for me. It's the attitude that separates the "noobs" from the rest. Noobs nervously check out everyone else's gear hoping theirs meets everyone's approval, while someone who's been diving for awhile knows what works for them and could give a s**t what the rest of the boat thinks. That might also explain why I also use Force Fins....talk about controversyJake:I used to think tank wraps were dumb, and then I was exposed to tanks on a professional level. I've seen some pretty deep external gashes on AL80 tanks that were cause for the tank to be condemned. I've wondered whether a cheap tank wrap would have saved the owner $150 for a new bottle.
Not sure about this one. If I need to get someone's attention, I don't want to go digging!
TrickyRicky:Has anyone mentioned the PADI "Buying new equipment c-card"?
I hear it's a real bargin!
F106A:See that and $10.
