What exactly is the purpose of low and hi pressure ports?

I dive with a ScubaPro R380 and DiveRite RG1200.

I bought a Poseidon Jetstream/ODIN that will become my primary and the RG1200 will move to my deco bottle (with the pritty green cap on it).

I can't wait for my Jetstream. The breath fantastic.
