The vulcanized rubber drysuits are really nice, although mine was $2000. I dove with wetsuits for 5 or so years before I purchased a thin fabric drysuit at 20 years old. Boy did it suck! Didn't stretch a bit and I felt like I had my pants halfway down, the crotch was so low. Next came a Poseidon JetSuit, one step below a Unisuit.....it was very nice.....next came a Viking ProTurbo, the predecessor to the model I have now.....

I was once on a crowded dive boat in the Channel Islands where it was so cold, everyone was huddling out of the howling wind behind the large cabin to block the wind. After one dive, people were white as sheets, their lips were blue, and they could barely hold the hot coffee to their lips. It was soooo rough, several were begging the Captain to call the Coast Guard, as if they could flatten the waves! So here I am in my drysuit with my hood removed I was so warm, enjoying getting tossed around like a good amusement park ride, and I notice this guy on the back corner of the boat leaning over. I assumed he was looking at some fish, so I got curious and went over. I was drinking a cold Pepsi and eating a burger. Just as he looks up, I clamped down on the burger with my choppers, he sees me, and hurls.....I didn't know he was leaning over from being seasick.....and I thought the burgers were good! lol I felt bad for the guy afterwards...wouldn't have scarfed the burger in front of him, although some were greatful.

Diving warm in a drysuit after diving with a wetsuit is like using a PC then going to a Mac, you wonder what the hell you were thinking all those years....

To the woman whose weights digs into her hips, try either using a soft lead shot weight belt or use the side weight pockets on your bc to hold the weights or have them added if possible.

I used to get bruised hips from my weight belt too as I don't have any natural padding going on and the drysuit undergarments weren't enough. Then I got a BC with integral weight pockets and boy was that nice, never used a weight belt after that....

Boy! I sure agree with that statement! (A dedicated Mac user since '86.

Snowbear - yes, I have found the solution.

Pasties and a g-string.

LOL...... more like a sportsbra and regular ol undies like the kind suggested after I asked the question.

Could you imagine diving without anything under your drysuit?? Yyyyeeeeeouch!!

DrySuitDave:
Well, Sub, being an older thread didn't stop you from posting, so why should it stop me? ;)

As to there being some requirement that women wear bras, I have to dissent, it is more of a sociological thing of an artificial construct.... it is just far easier to not wear a thing underneath a drysuit undergarment while diving....Americans are too busy attaching shame to the human body, it is quite unhealthy and pathological.

1. As a Mod it's my job to point these things out to people. Frequently members don't read the dates on the msgs, or they would realize that they are posting to a dormant or dead thread.

2. With all due respect, you're male. Until you've "walked a mile in my bra" please don't presume to know why I, or any other woman wears a bra.

Reminder: People, please keep the remarks within the G rating of this board. And the topic at hand.

Thanks, all....

Submariner,

The date of the original thread did not escape me so perhaps the benefit of stating the obvious is of dubious value. The forum software allows threads to be closed and I also noticed this had not been done. I can only surmise that this affirmatively means the that forum owner did not prohibit additional repsonses.

One needn't be female to know everything about bras and their uses for the same reason my female doctor doesn't need to be a guy to understand male reproductive physiology. Geez.....

Besides, when I was heavily into bodybuilding, I had pecs larger then many women I have been with. Nevertheless, I can assure you I have not spent one second thinking about why you wear a bra.
