I'm planning to dive dry in winter. Water is about 35 degrees. Will wearing a jacket underneath the drysuit work or do i have to buy a proper undergarment?
Bad idea..your undergarments have to keep you warm even when wet..in the event of a massive flood/leak. Not all clothing that keeps us warm on dry land does that..skip the dive without the right gear.

Near as I can tell, "good" and "economical" do not meet in the world of dry suit undergarments. I have a Weezle Extreme and love it, but there could be better stuff out there now that's washable like the Weezle.
Do you think that Weezle would do the job? I’m also considering tecline.

You don't mention the drysuit you are using.....or your intended deco profile. A 5mm or 7mm neoprene drysuit requires far less undergarment than a trilam or bilam shell. Also, your personal tolerance for cold is a major factor.

If your intended dive profile is to go into required deco in 35 degree water then you may want to seriously consider and plan for a worst case scenario in case of a full flood.

That’s some cold water and even without a deco obligation can be lethal or contribute to DCS.

I have trillam drysuit, I plan to do long shore dives and I have a bad cold tolerance. Lol

I was on a charter in Tobermory once, and watched a guy remove his neoprene drysuit, to reveal a pair of blue jeans and a sweatshirt. This dive was in 45°F water, and well below 100ffw. I was surprised to say the least...but I guess you can really wear whatever you like under a drysuit. Advisable? probably not....

I’m not sure if you’re trolling at this point or not, you need to do a significant amount of experience dives before you run off on long shore dives in the winter in water that cold.

If it’s 35 degrees and you don’t have surface support you have to plan for drysuit failure and the resulting need to return to your entry point. I’d not do that dive under those conditions with out heated undergarments that work when the suit is flooded and if it’s truely “long” I’d be running redundant heat with a dual thermovalve and 2 batteries

I'm so sorry to hear that. Did your friend died due to the lack of undergarments? Is there any economical undergarment options that you would recommend?
No they had a million sweaters on and were generally cold & borderline hypothermic. Their dexterity was limited and then had a regulator failure their cold fingers and hypothermic brain couldn't manage.

Weezle extreme+, drygloves, 10+mm hood and you will still be cold halfway through the dive.

35F is exponentially colder than 45F

Maybe even dry hood time depending on how long the exposure is.

100% It’s not even comparable. Things that are comfortable in 45 are freezing in 35. Regs that are reliable at 45 are right on the edge at 35 not to mention lp inflators and the likes.
