vladimir:
I took this picture a couple of weeks ago in Belize:
belize_barracuda.jpg

It's too blurry to be a decent picture--a barracuda moves faster than the 1/90 shutter speed--but I thought it was kind of cool to catch the barracuda a second after he sliced that fish in half and a second before a goliath grouper snatched part of it from his mouth.

:D

Nice pictures Catherine.

Did you actually get to see the barracuda tear that fish in two? Amazing.

that is a big barracuda, I think.

they move like lightening, eh?

Did the big fat grouper hustle?

I did see the barracuda slice the fish in half, David. The initial strike was really amazing; the barracuda (4-5 feet, so, pretty big) bent itself into an "S" shape and then shot like an arrow, hitting the sandy bottom and killing that bottom feeder. The picture was taken in reaction to the initial strike, probably a half second after; he snatched that half and headed straight up. The real surprise, Catherine, was how fast that grouper moved. They look clumsy, but he kept pace with that barracuda. I think the barracuda is a sprinter, and had pretty much spent himself.

It may be corny but I like seeing the OK sign from my lovely bride at the safety stop. I also like nudi's, garibaldi's and kelp forests. In warm water, turtles and most all of the reef fish.

Dave

Nice pictures Catherine!

I like seeing things happen . . . We did an incredible dive one night where we found a lion's mane jellyfish that had gotten its tentacles caught in a plumose anemone. It was trying to get away, but it was stuck, and the crabs had figured that out and were beginning to work on the dangling tentacles. It was slow motion drama, and fabulous. I've also enjoyed finding crabs working on a fish carcass, or anything else where you're getting to see life moving along underwater.

One of my sneaky joys is looking at my dive buddy, though. I regularly dive with some people who are just absolutely beautiful in the water -- Quiet, graceful, and immensely competent. They're just fun to watch.

I like nice pieceful dives where I can see marine life in the distance but not close enought to notice I am there....the big animal that we have here can be a little intimidating and you really never know what they are going to do.... and i know there is now way I can out swim or out muscle a stellar sealion, octopus of even a harbour seal

Just maybe you should rephrase the question

What don't you like, because it seems we all like the same beautyfull small and big things we (as divers only :D)can see.Keep it to your self otherwise the rest of the planet is also comes to take a peek:D

I don't like,
stupid careless inconssidered people how call themself "divers":11: and damage what I want to see later on.
