I've been curious for the longest time: what do tech divers do on deco stops? Even some of my safety stops have degenerated into rock-paper-scissors, and those are only 3 minutes or so.

I remember reading an amusing article written by a British female tec diver (Polly Tapson), and she was saying that when the dive team got to the first deco stop, all of the other (male) divers pulled out pornography to read.

That's quite a mental image.

In that case, is the drysuit relief valve designed for a different sort of relief than I originally suspected?

Nice thing about doing deco in caves is you can often just get negative, lie on the bottom and pretty much go to sleep.

If its cold I tend to do a lot of shivering ! :D

The WKPP could probably read War and Peace

Bad deco diver, bad!

Some people listen to music and watch movies, although I have never seen this.

I have never done anything but wait, frankly. Where I do most of my diving, we end up gently swimming along the wall during the long 20 feet stop, partially just to have something to do and partially because gentle exercise keeps the blood flowing, helps keep you warm, and aids in decompression. (Heavy exercise is not suggested.)

I typically chat back and forth on wet notes. Resting my eyes seems to pass the time quickly too. Watching the bottom timer will make it seem like an eternity.
