I have been waiting for a really long time for my first tropical dive vacation (like 30 years) and am going to the Caymans in March. So, I guess that is off my bucket list. I am not a big one to fixate on goals, because I think sometimes the best things are unexpected and unplanned.

Diving a kelp forest, seeing a whale underwater, diving a u-boat. Most importantly being able to get in the water over and over again. I think I would enjoy a thousand little victories more than the single moment.

Komodo and Raja are amazing. You will love it! I want to go back...2019, I think. :)

COCOS

I’ve been to Komodo 3x, Raja Ampat 6x, Galápagos 1x (enough - too dang cold), GBR 1x (enough - too much coral bleaching), Palau (last month, but I might come back later).

For 2018, Cocos for this September, then Maldives in early December & Socorro in late December.

I actually was on a charter to dive it in the mid 1980s and we diverted to a couple of other wrecks. A good day of diving, but I was pretty disappointed....

I just want to return to Raja Ampat again and again and again! Particularly Kri and Misool

Scapa Flow at mid tide with a chase boat !!
I absolutely love current.
Why? The best wrecks by far have no tidal current, the ones that do are nowhere near as complete or historic.

Depends what you want to dive -
Hammerheads - Galapagos (just don't go when its an El nino)
Wrecks - Truk, Bikini Atoll, Scapa, Presque Isle (Great Lakes)
Macro (fish) - Raja, Wakatobi

For me - for a bit of everything - Browning Pass BC (god's pocket/hideaway) - it has seal lions, too many fish, too much macro, pelagics - whales and dolphins - it just is a little chilly. here is a photo Stoo took: British Columbia, Canada - wetspot

cheers,

Socorro Island is next on my hit list. Followed by Komodo and Raja Ampat.

Socorro is next on my hit list too ... going in May. Visited Komodo in 2008 and Raja Ampat in 2013 ... both are incredible.

If cost were no object I would love to dive in Antarctica ...

In no particular order:

Maldives
Great Barrier Reef
Belize
And after today's blizzard in NYC: anyplace with warm water

I have been to Belize and the Maldives ... and while they're nice enough you can get way more bang for the buck pretty much anywhere in the South Pacific.

Chuuk (Truk lagoon)

+1 for a total of 3 of us. :) Not just time, money, but also skill...I feel like I need to get into some tech diving (mixes, deco, etc.) to really make it ideal.

I am another vote for Chuuk (Truk) but also know I need a lot more experience and like @outofofficebrb I want to do some deco and trimix courses before I decide to dive there.

As a Navy veteran, wrecks have fascinated me and the ability to learn about each ship you encounter and the crew aboard is amazing. Wreck diving is something I am on course to do frequently. Just did my first deep dive (31 meters) , which also happened to be a wreck and while it was short, I was in awe the entire time.

Komodo and Raj Ampat are also on the list.
