I've never used tanks like this.. but i have 2 twin 30s al3000 made in 89.. look new with manifold and still have 3000psi in them. I have no clue what they would be worth if I sell em.... or if i'd use em, what would i need on my knighthawk twintanks.jpgtwintanks2.jpg

whatever someone would be billing to pay. Sounds sarcastic, but it is true. The 'worth' is the amount of money that changes hands when a buyer and seller agree to, and make an exchange - of the buyer's money for the seller's property.

Who would want to buy them? A vintage diving enthusiast might. Then, 'worth' depends on how much they want them, and how willing you are to part with them. I don't dive 'vintage' but would offer $50, but not because they are practical - I would buy them as a novelty. Someone else might offer much more. But it is a small market.

Does your Nighthawk have 11” OC grommets, to handle doubles? You only need one reg.

I have 2 sets as well, got them back in 1990, they are stamped in 89 as well, not sure what they are worth though.
They should strap right in to your nighthawk. I've used them with all sorts of BDC's including STA with a BP.
Great for shallow dives, you don't even know they're back there.

No use for them in the vintage community, they are not old much less vintage....now if they were steel 38s or Voit 50s with a 50/60s manifold that would be a different matter. They are only worth what used 30s go for and since they are pre 90 - the whole "bad" aluminum deal, they have a limited market. The manifold...I see no use at all for it. At best a USD collector may be interested in them due to the odd factor. Being an offset manifold, it has no double hose use.

If they are from 1989 they should be after Luxfer changed to 6061-T6, but I have heard of dive shops that don't know the difference.

Very Cool! I would say they are Priceless!

Keep them & have Fun.

Maybe, maybe not. I forget the dates off hand but if I remember correctly it was mid 89 when the material changed.....I have a set of triples from the same era (ABS) that are a month or so before the cutover..really pissed me but reguardless, if the dive shop actually understands the issue, it's no problem and if they don't and they are pre 90 you lose, unless you have a really good LDS is't not worth the hassle.. IMO as doubles they are not worth the cost to maintain them with hydros and vips plus tear down each year...

so after reading, how do i know for sure if these are usable? i found this
Now lets focus on cylinders made by Luxfer as they are the most predominate scuba cylinder made with AL6351:

30 and 63 cu. ft............................. S30, S63 .... mfg date 5-88

these looks to be mfg in 11/89 on both.. luxfer tanks If they can be used but not worth much, i'll just use em... just for the novelty :)

As you have confirmed these cylinders are made using AL6061 but as said pre 1990 which is the year many dive shops use as the arbitrary cut off. Who does your local fills is what is important with such cylinders.

As for value one might get $150 on fleabay. I would probably keep them for fun.

I'll outbid colliam7 for $51.00, we can share them bill!! Seriously though there is not much use for them other than laughs or splitting them into pony bottles.

I'd keep them doubled up for fun though. And I will buy them and pay for shipping too..
And then taunt colliam7 with them at every chance I can
