They're just following PADIs lead.

I don't understand the problem with online classes. Obviously only the academic portion is taught online, much like an online college course. The advantage is that students can read, watch videos and answer questions all on thier own schedule(thus making scheduling courses easier for students, instructors and shops). If students don't understand something they can still go to the intructor for clairfication.
Online and CDROM courses also mean that students who are good academically can get into the pool quickly, while students who are academically challenged can spend as much time as they need with the material.
I think it's a win/win for all involved.

Actually, padi is following their lead.

really?! Hard to believe that PADI didn't come up with a way to ram-rod more students first!

Blah Blah Blah PADI sucks Blah Blah Blah

This paranoid fear of anything new is amusing at least.

So...The choice of sitting in a classroom watching a DVD or doing it from the comfort of your own home. Hardly earth shattering.

So why are folks afraid to name the agency

The problem is not the medium, its the content which we are all assuming, without looking, based on past experience, sucks.
