Sorry archman...I meant scubaboard in general seems a bit heavily moderated at times. Just MHO.

As far as this forum and your contributions to it, I would very much like to thank you. I'm constantly impressed with your depth of knowledge. Your students must be really lucky indeed :)

archman:
This forum rarely gets overmoderated. I watch it like a hawk.

Archman: Thank you for your moderation. This forum, a bit contentious at times, is one of the best for all SCUBA interests. The "Japans Shame" thread had a lot of good input. Having worked with very conservation minded Japanese folks for quite some time it was interesting to see some sterotypical opinions and statements. Locally, Here is the big issue:

KOMPRESSOR:
Here's some "killer" shots some friends made in Lofoten in November this year:

And yes, that's a yellow Force Fin Pro in the picture... :D
I've seen many cases where seagulls hover above the area where bluefish are attacking a school of baitfish. The gulls like to swoop down and get the leftover bits. All those gulls in the photo make me wonder if the divers are hanging around a feeding frenzy. I won't go into a bluefish feeding frenzy, and they are only 16" long. I can't imagine being around a bunch of killer whales working over a school of fish!

Other moderators have graciously volunteered to clean up the thread. I'm just goofing around like the rest of you guys. You may thank them when the thread resurfaces, which I trust will be within the next day or so.

Although as whaling-related threads go, I think we've had better educational ones in the past.

This one's the best by far. I especially like rereading my own posts. I'm so vain.

Informative, but entirely too civil to be good entertainment. :05:

Interestingly enough I re-discovered that certain folks, regardless of whether a species is threatened/endangered/sentient will continue to do exactly as they please unless they undergo some form of a paradigm shift. One knucklehead seemed to revel in rubbing people's noses in it. It's too bad his parents didn't train him not to gloat over the kill.

Given this psychological propensity to do the wrong thing it's pretty clear that these individuals and their respective fishing industries will hunt to near extinction. It's about money, not giving a #%t, misinformation and screwy personal values.

see, if people could discuss the issue without using words like "knucklehead" or
worse, no one but the posters would have to get involved

...some people simply do not know how to argue civilly
