Hope for the full Moon, they kinda' like that. April 5th.
Pack frozen shrip into your swim trunks. They absolutely love that.
Hope for Whale Sharks, but understasnd what the Bay Islands are best known for. Micro stuff.
Many people come to Roatan or Utila and are disappointed "in the lack of fish life". True, there are no pushy hand-fed pet 200# Groupers or 6' Baracudas that also appear on post cards in island gift shops.
Lobster, Crab... quite visible, quite boring after #47. A Pipefish? A SeaHorse? WoooWooo! Whale Sharks ? They're just an unexpected surprise.
Guaranteed Whale Sharks? Instead, for the careful observer with good buoyancy, even better for those with a magnifying glass and a great Dive Master- ahhh.... the rewards are fabulous.

I went to Utilla the first week in Feb. The skipper located 10 whale sharks and I saw 6 of them. We rolled off the back of the boat with fins, mask, and snorkle. One swam 10 feet or less from me. It was so great I thought I would die. I would recommend Utilla Lodge and our DM was Albert.
