Last time I was in Yap I was wearing a shorty and a Canadian friend of mine who was the photo pro there was in a 7mm. Water temp 26 C. Everyone is different.

I think I may go with a full 5mm. But, I'm still open to all opinions and probably will change my mind!

You live in drysuit country. Just thought I would mention that to you. BARE has inexpensive drysuits that you may want to look into. And DIVING CONCEPTS has the better more expensive models.
Wetsuits are great for dive travel to tropical waters, and a 3mm together with a hood is a good combo for diving in most warm waters.
For diving where you live however, if you want a wetsuit, you will need to find the thickest double-layer (called "farmer-john") wetsuit that you can fit into. These are normally 7mms each, with the double thickness area (torso) being therefore 14mm. And don't forget boots, gloves, and a thick hood.
