Wetsuit size doubt

I am going to buy my first wetsuit (for snorkeling).

My problem is that my size is betwen the limit of 2 sizes.

Exemple for a wetsuit: M chest size is 92/98 cm and L chest size is 98/103

My chest size is 98 so do I buy the M or the L ?

Where is important to the wetsuit to be tighter ? Arms, Legs, Chest ?

With wetsuits, when in doubt, order the smaller size. Too big, and the wetsuit will provide no thermal protection.

how cold is the water? will get a 7mm or a 3mm.

they both will feel different - does not have to be tight, just a bit snug - remember it will loosen up a bit. If you are getting it for cooler waters make sure they have rubber seals at the end on the ankle and wrist - if the water get from cooler to colder - it might be a good idea to get a semi-dry.

when i bought mine the size chart put me at 10 based on chest size and 8 for the rest...i took the 8

don't forget that it will loosen up some once you get in the water

Do you have the chance to try them on before diving? I would rely more on that rather than the "size." Sizes (or the size you need) can vary between manufacturers or within different models or thicknesses.

Also, my wetsuits tend to shrink as I get older

Unless you are familiar with the sizes of the particular brand, try them on first. I've found I'm a size XL in some brands and XXL in others. Of course if you try them on at a local dive shop, I hope you buy from them.

Where you speak by the numbers it sounds like you are trying to order from a website or catalog. This is the worst way to buy a wetsuit. There are many nuances to the human form that are not captured in those 6-10 measurements.

The suit needs to fit with just a hint of compression but it must not assist you when exhaling or restrict inhalation. Trying real suits is the only way to get one that fits like Cinderellas slipper unless you want to chance a long round of wetsuit roulette. Much more here.

buy from a local shop, even it you are cutting cost corners you can find some cheapo suits. The last thing you want to do is spend good money on a wetsuit that you will not use because it does not fit.

(a good fitting cheapo suit will keep you warmer than an ill-fitting expensive suit. just may not last a long, depending on how rough you are on gear)

Between buying a expensive one by internet and a cheap one in a shop I choosed the first one.

-------- The cheap one:

Price: 18 euros (Firefly shorty)

Tickness: 2mm (it looked more thick than the expensive one)

Confort: easy to take off since it has a zip on the back

Bad point: the lowest leg zone has below the knee cap so not good for water protection

--------- The expensive one:

Size: I bought the M size (by chart the L size has more correct but M has perfect).

Price: 56 euros (Cressi playa)

Tickness: It says 2.5mm but it looks thinner than the cheap one.

Zip: it´s on the front (it makes hard to take out because it has the zip on the front)
It has no safety stopper to avoid an accidental open.

Water protection: the end of the legs and arms were more tighter than the cheap version.

--------- Conclusion:

If I had tried a smaller size of the cheapest one maybe the lowest leg zone would be above the knee cap and it would be better than the expensive one.
